Reflections of War

Al Jazeera was the only global news network broadcasting from both Gaza and Israel during Israel’s December 08/January 09 blitzkrieg that left over 1,000 Palestinians dead and thousands more maimed and homeless.  In this 4 part series Ayman Mohyeldin and Sherine Tadros recount their experience of reporting on the assault while faced with the same life-threatening dangers as Gaza’s 1.5 million inhabitants.

Gazans continue to suffer under continued Israeli occupation.  Unemployment has soared, adequate amounts of aid and supplies are not getting in and the remaining trauma from the attack continues to plague its victims.  It took more than 1,000 dead Palestinians to get 1 month of coverage on this issue, albeit, mostly from the Israeli perspective.   Mainstream coverage has since receded to previous non-existent levels.  Many have moved on — if only that was a viable choice for the Palestinians as well.
