Shalit was an adult......a large number of Palestinian prisoners are classed as children..
These Palestinian prisoner children have also been subjected to torture and dehumanisation meted out by the Israeli military in their prisons.
Shalit was a man doing a mans work in the army

This is third rate hasbara propaganda. The punishments mered out by the zionist entity include imprisoning thousands of Palestinians indefinitely without charge or trial, and I don't know where you get information from to back up your claim that the apartheid state allows family members to visit as a policy.

As for who is more cruel, there is absolutely no contest. Its the Israeli regime, hands down. Because it kept welching out of prisoner swap agreements, Hezbollah captured a few IOF soldiers, which was used by the apartheid state to launch yet another assault that destroyed much of the country. Cruel?

As for Hezbollah releasing dead prisoners, Israel still prizes the return of its deceased. It values jewish lives above the goy, of course.

Your propaganda that "Gilad's parents are not capable of letting this poor boy survive" is laughable. Hamas are human beings and the democratically elected government of Gaza, how ever much you want to demonise them. Its hearsay and you display nothing but bias toward, and a marked ignorance about, Hamas.

Lastly, regarding the ICRC. Given the fact that Shilat was captured and that the zionist entity prizes its soldiers so, its understandable why Hamas is compelled to keep as a bargaining chip given the unbelievable treatment Israel has dished out in Gaza and elsewhere in its inhumane occupation.

Here is another <a href="http://baltimore.indymedia.org/newswire/display/19001/index.php" rel="nofollow">justification</a>:
<blockquote>In a statement to Ma'an, the ministry said that the Red Cross' demand came while "Gaza prisoners have been continuously deprived family visits for more than two years, which has negatively affected their living and psychological situation."

"Under what pretext of international law is it that the Red Cross can demand that Hamas allow Shalit to contact his family?" the the de facto government ministry asked. "Did the Red Cross denounce the [Israeli] occupation for its daily violations of international law against Palestinian prisoners, who are deprived from every human right?"

"At the least, stated international conventions demand that the sick aren't denied necessary medical treatment; instead, they die slowly due to medical negligence," the statement went on to say.

The ministry also denounced international organizations' calls for better treatment of "this single Israeli captive," demanding that they show that they "care about the situation of 11,000 Palestinian prisoners, against whom everything is banned and international crimes are committed."</blockquote>

thank you for the post. We know Gilad Shalit's name because his family made him a cause celebre. The Israeli government would prefer his parents to quiet down so negotiations can be in private.

Also, Israeli govt. lets family members visit its prisoners. Hamas refuses even Red Cross to ever see Gilad Shalit, so who is more cruel? There is no sign of life.

Gilad's parents know that Hamas is not capable of letting this poor boy survive. These people train their own children to be suiciders. No Jew ever survived Palestinian prison, whereas Palestinians are released alive. Remember that Hizbollah negotiated for release of 2 Israeli soldiers, without informing them the men were dead. How cruel to their families.

You are welcome to publicize any Palestinian prisoners. There are more column inches about Palestinian suffering than about the rest of the Middle East combined. But we know that it could have ended if Arafat had said "yes" at Camp David in 2000 instead of "Intifadah".
