Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to New York for the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly has been furiously contested and anxiously awaited since news of his trip was made public.  Several phone, letter and audio-visual campaigns specifically focused on his arrival have been launched against him by Iranian-American and non Iranian-American groups including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.  Angry protestors will no doubt be present wherever he goes.  He was also denied reservations at several hotels.  In New York trucks with mobile billboards which are usually contracted to advertise consumer products circulated around the UN headquarters and parts of midtown Manhattan.  All eyes will be on Ahmadinejad when he addresses the UN on Wednesday.
