I agree with everything except for the statement that the Liberal government &quot;made the important decision not to participate in the war on Iraq.&quot; Unfortunately, despite the Chretien government&#039;s duplicitous claims at the time, the Canadians were deeply involved in the Iraq war in a way that parallels Canada&#039;s &quot;Quiet Complicity&quot; with the Vietnam war.

Among other things, it was very important strategically and in light of the transformation of the Canadian Forces, for successive Canadian Generals to serve in Deputy Command positions in Baghdad, overseeing/participating in some of the worst brutalities of the occupation with the full support of the Canadian state.]]></description>
