Zain’s ‘A Wonderful World’ ad for UNRWA

September 13th, 2010 § 3 Comments

UNRWA, the main support base for Palestinian refugees in and around Palestine (in Gaza nearly 80% of the population depends on UNRWA for “basic sustenance” due to Israel’s illegal siege), is currently underfunded and not able to keep pace with increased refugee needs and uptake of services. Does the world care? We know the government of Canada doesn’t.

Credit for the clip above goes to the Zain Group who has recently partnered with UNRWA to assist their funding needs and bring in more donors. Remember, UNRWA is a favorite target for Zionists. Take this article on the supposed evils of UNRWA written by a member of the neoconservative-run, Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. Where did it appear? Forbes. So much for the use of reputable sources.

I really struggle to reconcile the horrible devastation depicted here with the busy streets, malls and country clubs in this Sky News report: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djFyNVVtCqU

    Which is the real Gaza?

    • Margie says:

You aren’t struggling to do anything but spread Zionist propaganda.

Yes there is a mall in Gaza, yes there are some people who can afford luxury cars in Gaza. No one ever disputed this and it would be strange if they didn’t exist. Ask yourself what percentage of the population depends on handouts for food. Ask yourself what percent of the population can engage in regular commerce when a foreign power controls their borders — air, land and water — and says what is allowed in/out, how much and how fast.

But wait! The UN and all NGO’s that give the answers to these questions are anti-Israel, so you can’t rely on facts. Go on then, rely on Israeli government propaganda as your source, or Zionist bloggers.

Even in the poorest countries in the world there are luxuries and people who can afford them. If Israel doesn’t have anything to hide about the crimes it is committing in Gaza, why does it make it almost impossible for people to enter the area to assess the situation for themselves?

Come on, people aren’t as stupid as you want them to be.

I don’t want people to be stupid. what an awful suggestion.

What about my comment makes you think I rely on Zionist bloggers. I linked to a video from Sky News. It contains images that starkly contrast with the images in the video that was posted.

Are you suggesting that the Sky News report is Zionist propaganda? I guess it’s possible. Is it also possible that the video in the post is some kind of propaganda?

It doesn’t look like the Sky News reporter and his crew had any difficulty entering Gaza.

I think your questions are important and worthy. Here’s one for you. What percentage of the population can engage in regular commerce when a foreign power has declared its intention to target civilians including the shooting of pregnant women in cars?

I will stipulate here as I have done elsewhere that my government should withdraw from all occupied territories and immediately cease its blockade of Gaza. Will you stipulate that Hamas is a corrupt organization withholding aid from its citizens and enforcing dreadful misogyny on its population by banning women from drinking or smoking in public?
