It certainly does not diminish the cruelty of this decision, but the UK and a few other EU con tries, as well as Australia, already hold the record for this inhumane policy. In these countries there are no time limits for the detention of migrants and people have been locked up in centres for two or three years, some even for longer, with awful consequences for their mental health.
