Congratulations to Al Jazeera, by far the best mainstream news channel, for finally reaching a US audience. Incidentally, in the discussion that follows the stupidest question comes from James Reston Jr., who was portrayed in the film Frost/Nixon as the principled and tenacious researcher who helped Frost secure Nixon’s confession.
Al Jazeera: Just days before Al Jazeera English makes its debut on television airwaves in the US, Al Jazeera’s Josh Rushing hosts a town hall meeting in Washington DC. The show goes behind-the-scenes at Al Jazeera English and allows the audience to engage in a hard-hitting discussion with panelists Sir David Frost, Marwan Bishara and Ghida Fakhry about Al Jazeera, the stories it covers and its coverage of the US.
Good news. But not the debut for AJE in the USA. Although it is still largely unavailable in this country – since nearly 2 years it’s been carried on the Burlington VT city-owned fibre optic carrier, Burlingtontelecom. There was a protest made by zionist groups and right-wing Islamophobes to not carry it and even they tried to make a referendum. Didn’t get the required sigs, thankfully.
I will be calling my cable company daily for it. DId you see James Reston at the end of Part 2 caught not clapping, so he raised his hands and banged them together. Once.
Man. Al-Jazeera is going to show our pundits up for the sloppy stenographers they are. All of DC will have this on. The Alphabets now have a direct challenge.
I love it.
Great Jazeera. Open the stranglehold on issues that concern Americans in their quest for truth.
Be controversial, and win the debate. Don’t over-dramatize anything please – this is a winning strategy. This great ‘ole US needs a reality check!!!
