YOU DON’T LIKE THE TRUTH – 4 days inside Guantánamo is a documentary based on security camera footage from the Guantánamo Bay prison.
This encounter between a team of Canadian intelligence agents and a child detainee [Omar Khadr] in Guantánamo has never before been seen. Based on seven hours of video footage recently declassified by the Canadian courts this documentary delves into the unfolding high-stakes game of cat and mouse between captor and captive over a four day period. Maintaining the surveillance camera style this film analyzes the political, legal and scientific aspects of a forced dialogue.
Omar Khadr is a Canadian citizen who was born in Toronto on September 19, 1986. When he was fifteen years old he was taken prisoner by U.S. forces in Afghanistan on July 2002. Captured in battle and severely wounded he was taken to Bagram Air Force base where he was interrogated and tortured. On October 2002 he was sent to the U.S. military prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. The U.S. government accuses Omar Khadr of having killed an American soldier and intends to try him as a war criminal. Omar is the last citizen of a western power being held in Guantánamo. The Canadian conservative government has refused to request his repatriation.
The film is screening now across Canada. Find out more here.
I look forward to a day when scumbag professionals, police, politicians, jurists and priests are sent to Gitmo – such that “the truth” can be extracted from them in exactly the same way.
Hopefully, somebody with more IT savvy will create a youtube film to launch an NGO campaign to throw lil’ stevie and all members of his harper ottawa sodomite sychophant Nazi’s into Gitmo style prison conditions for at least 3 times as long as Khadr – with a triple dose of “enhanced interrogation techniques”.
