The BBC recently gave Douglas Murray of the neoconservative Center for Social Cohesion a platform to spew his xenophobic bile, but to its dismay, Murray’s lies were quickly demolished by News Statesmen editor Mehdi Hasan in the subsequent debate.

I am not sure about the details of the British situation but we have to look at the broader geo political issues when considering this issue. The alienation of Muslims from the culture they live in is because they have been demonised by the mainstream media who serve the interests of certain corporations (ie the oil companies) and counties who want to control oil supplies.
The situation going on in the middle east concerning the installed dictators by the U.S. and U.K. could be the reason why some muslims are not happy. Also the war in Iraq and Afganistan might also add fuel to the fire. When debating these serious subjects it would be wise to keep the discussion rational and not bring up petty things like customs that some muslims may practice but others may not. Stick to the facts and keep the emotion out of the debate, talk about the realities of what is really going on, the West has to take some responsibility because of their actions which are hidden from the majority in the community.
Interesting but I am not sure that he really demolishes Murray’s argument. Looks like the BBC wins again.
