RIP Bassel Shehadeh.
“God is mightier than the oppressor” sounds an awful lot like “Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God,” a saying that came out of the English revolution of the mid to late 1600s that Benjamin Franklin favored as the official seal of the United States. Westerners who are quick to disown the Syrian revolution over its religious overtones ought to read their own history a little more closely first.
